because cozy doesn't make itself
One Afternoon, One Gallon of Paint, and a Completely Transformed Entry
Every home has that one project you've been meaning to get to… the one you walk past every single day thinking, "Yeah, we're gonna fix that."
For me? That project was our front door.
When we bought the house, the door was painted a vivid turquoise — bold, bright, unapologetic. And honestly? It had its moment. It made me smile the first few weeks.
But somewhere along the way, as the rest of our home shifted into warm, earthy, cozy tones, the turquoise started to feel like the last guest at a party who didn't get the memo.
It just wasn't the vibe anymore.
The front door is the first impression of your home — not just for guests, but for you. You walk through it countless times a day. It sets the tone and whispers the mood of everything that's inside.
And while the turquoise was fun, it didn't match the atmosphere I've been creating indoors:
warm, inviting, soft, cozy, layered.
The turquoise was… none of those things. 😂
So it was time.
Bold, bright, and unapologetic — the turquoise had its moment, but it no longer matched the warm, cozy vibe of our home.
When I say this color is a game changer, I mean it.
Behr – Sandwashed Driftwood is a muted olive-meets-greige — soft, earthy, and elevated without trying too hard. It's one of those colors that looks expensive without being loud. A subtle flex of a paint color.
It immediately grounded the entry and tied in beautifully with the rest of my home's cozy aesthetic. The moment it dried, I literally stood back and said,
"Oh. Yes. This is it."
No second-guessing. No, "Maybe it needs another coat."
Just instant this feels like home energy.
I kept it simple and beginner-friendly — no wild DIY gymnastics needed:
Just enough to knock down the previous sheen so the new paint could grab on.
Because Utah dust is a thing.
Painter's tape > buying new hardware.
I used a high-quality brush for the inset details and a foam roller for the flat areas to keep it smooth and streak-free.
The hardest part is walking away and not touching it. Ask me how I know.
From bright turquoise to warm, earthy Behr Sandwashed Driftwood — the transformation speaks for itself!
The transformation was instant — the entire exterior suddenly felt more intentional, more modern, more us.
No more loud turquoise fighting with the rest of the house.
Now it feels:
It's amazing how one color shift can make your home feel entirely different.
Absolutely.
It's one of the easiest, fastest, and most budget-friendly ways to boost your home's curb appeal and change the whole feeling of your entryway.
One gallon of paint.
A free afternoon.
A totally transformed vibe.
And for us — finally — a front door that says "welcome home" instead of "surprise, I'm turquoise!" 😅
